How can you be so sure?

26 March, 2006

Out of the whole universe, 96% is made up of 'dark energy', or 'dark matter'; this is a label that scientists apply to something (thing?), about which they still don't understand much at all.

Broadly speaking, we (OK: scientists) understand only 4% of our universe.

Doesn't that suggest that we should be really, really cautious before we make any assertions about the universe, its  (possible) meaning, etc?

Before we assert, for example, that there is, or is not, a God.

And, as for claiming that 'God wants us to do this', or 'God wants us to do that', how sensible is that?
